• Tennis Director

    Joel lives in Namugongo, Kampala and was introduced to tennis as a ballboy at a local tennis club. Joel was the Ugandan National Champion in 2019 and played in the University Games. One of his proudest moments was playing for Uganda in the East African Zonals in Kenya. Joel is currently studying computer science at Victoria University. His life goal is to bring his love of the game to teach tennis in the United States.

    Joel’s hobbies include listening to music and watching movies. Joel is a PTR certified tennis professional.

  • Community Director

    Hilary is a community leader and social advocate. He is currently studying Information Technology at Kyambogo University. His life goal is to leave a legacy that inspires and motivates the community and children to overcome adversity and create new opportunities. He believes tennis is not just a sport for the children, but a place of peace from the challenges they face at home, a community where they are supported, and an identity that they can be proud of.

    Hilary is a PTR certified tennis professional and his hobbies include debating, writing stores, and reading inspirational books and life stories.

  • Head Coach

    Hafiz lives in Naguru, Kampala and started tennis as a ballboy at a local club. Hafiz currently plays internationally on the ITF circuit, representing Uganda, and has placed 3rd in singles and won the doubles in Uganda’s premier junior open.

    His life goal is to be an inspiration to the next generation, guiding them towards a positive future and to make tennis one of the most popular sports in the country.

  • Community Liaison

    Morriz lives in Acholi Quarters, Kampala, the same slum community that Serving Up Hope works in. Morriz is a PTR certified tennis professional.

    Morriz enjoys playing tennis and soccer, as well as breakdancing, rap, beatboxing, and graffiti art. His life goals are to open his own truck business for transporting raw food from villages to town for sale and to open his own photography business.

  • Development Coach

    Arnold lives in Naguru, Kampala and started tennis as a ball boy at a local tennis club. At 11 years old, he met Margaret Court, who came to Uganda for a holiday tennis clinic, which inspired him to pursue tennis as a player. His goals are to become Uganda’s best player, win Davis Cup for his country, become a Grand Slam champion, help support his family and friends, and to always be happy.

    Arnold was a 5 time winner in 16 and under Championships and 2 time bronze medalist in the East African School Championships and is a PTR certified coach. He is currently attending Makarere University, studying computer science.

    His hobbies include listening to music, visiting new places, and hanging out with friends.

  • Development Coach

    Sam lives in Kampala, Uganda and has worked in sport for over a decade. He passionate about social impact and giving back. He has volunteered with World Vision, assisting on projects aimed at ending violence against children, and with the Uganda Youth Development Link, a nonprofit organization focused on developing youth talent through sport. His goals in life are to become an international tennis coach, to see positive impacts in others’ lives, and to be an inspiration to others. Sam is a PTR certified tennis professional.

    His hobbies include travelling, exercising, listening to motivational speeches, and supporting Liverpool Football Club.
