Position Summary
The Volunteer Program Coordinator helps bring Serving Up Hope’s youth tennis programs to life across the Chicago region. This role is ideal for someone passionate about tennis, youth development and community impact. While unpaid, it offers hands-on experience in program management, leadership and nonprofit operations, along with the reward of making a difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support & Oversight
Occasionally, assist with program delivery at partner sites, ensuring curriculum quality.
Train and support volunteer coaches and mentors.
Visit program sites occasionally; monitor engagement and collect program data.
Coordinate equipment needs and track inventory.
Capture photos/stories for social media and newsletters.
Community Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with schools, community centers and local partners.
Represent Serving Up Hope at community and tennis events on occasion.
Support outreach to attract new participants and partner locations if needed.
Administration & Events
Maintain monthly attendance and participation records.
Share highlights for reports and fundraising efforts.
Assist with clinics, tournaments and community fundraising events.
Qualifications
Required
Passion for Serving Up Hope’s mission and working with diverse youth.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Reliable transportation and flexibility to attend occasional evenings/weekends.
Preferred
Knowledge of tennis (playing or coaching).
Experience in youth programs, community engagement, or event coordination.
Time Commitment & Support
Approx. 5 hours per month (flexible schedule)
Training, resources and ongoing support are provided by Serving Up Hope staff.
